What Should You Know When Choosing Hair Color Products?

Coloring your hair seems something quite easy to do: you buy the hair color, apply it and get a new look. More than that, your hair becomes shiny and attractive.

In fact, the procedure is more complicated. The newest types of hair color products have much information on the package, related to the shades that match the skin or natural hair color. Some women who are more daring opt for diametrically opposed shades: from dark brown to blond or from red to black. Are you tempted to make such a change? Well, here are some tips you should consider when choosing hair color:

Basically, the color may look great, but if it isn’t compatible with the skin tone, then the overall result can seem strident and unnatural. In fact, it is important to take into account not only the skin tone, but also the natural color of your eyebrows. Why is it so important this chromatic consonance? Well, as it is known, a colored hair must look natural… Which is impossible if your eyebrows are blonde, while the hair is dark brown. Of course, you can use an eyebrow pencil, but the best is to consider your natural hair color.

Unfortunately, many women still tend to believe that the shades they see in catalogs or at TV are suitable for them. But this is not true; any stylist will tell you that in very few cases you will get a color that is similar to that presented on the package. The shade used must be two shades lighter or darker than your natural hair color.

People who have pale skin and blonde hair should choose shades of gray blonde to platinum blonde. They must avoid using intense golden blond shades, because they will look even paler.

If you have a pale skin and dark blond or light brown hair, opt for warm shades of brown or copper. These colors match the skin. Avoid coloring your hair in light blonde.

If you have dark skin, then you should color your hair in brown shades. Forget about red color and golden blonde.

Your hair will be shiny and full of color as long as you take care of it by using products specifically designed for colored hair. If you won’t pay attention to this aspect, the hair might become dry. Also, don’t use shampoo in the same day when you changed the hair color. When you wash your hair, use cold water. The chemical substances contained by hair color products are very sensitive to hot water and it’s possible that, after three to four washings, to notice that the hair doesn’t have a uniform color anymore.
